I’ve been using IrfanView for many years and I think it is the best image viewer software available. It offers a lot of features, is easy to use and has loads of options. What I like most is that you can save jpg, bmp, gif, png, tiff, avi and a lot more image types as a web-ready format (see image below).
I’ve also found the file manager to be a great tool that I use all the time to move, rename, copy and delete files. I can find file easily and can use the tools like search and replace and batch rename. The software also has file recovery features and it supports a lot of file formats and extensions.
There is also a command line tool that lets you create PDF files, animations, tables and lots of other things.
I also love the program’s sidebar that lets you easily browse through your files. And it has a clear and easily readable user interface that is easy to use.
When you open the program you will see a standard toolbar at the bottom of the screen. This toolbar is divided into 4 main areas. On the left side there are the options, on the right there are the file menu and the color palette and on the bottom of the toolbar there is a sidebar.
This is what I use most of the time. I find it easy to use and very stable.
If you want to save a web-ready image just select “Save as Web-Ready” in the top menu. If you need a more powerful file manager you can download the latest version from the developer’s website.
